The Dover 400 is the 2nd race in the Chase for the 2007 Nextel Cup and it is a good race for competitive NASCAR odds

Dover 400 – Dover International Speedway

The Dover 400 is the 2nd race in the Chase for the 2007 Nextel Cup and it is a good race for competitive NASCAR odds. Last week Clint Bowyer won the first race of the Chase for those fans looking at NASCAR odds and moved up from in the standings to 4th place. Last season in the Dover 400 it was Jeff Burton getting the victory against NASCAR odds.

In 2005 it was Jimmy Johnson just getting by teammate Kyle Busch. The second starting position has been the best at Dover for NASCAR betting fans, producing 13 winners while the pole and the third position have produced 10 winners each. 60 of 73 races at Dover have been won from the Top 10 starting positions. Those fans looking at NASCAR odds might want to know that five of the last 13 seasons, a single driver has swept both races at Dover. The last time it happened was in 2003 when Ryan Newman won both races against the NASCAR odds at Dover.

Leading NASCAR odds drivers Jimmy Johnson and Jeff Gordon lead the Chase while Tony Stewart is 10 points back and Clint Bowyer is 15 points behind. Matt Kenseth is one driver to watch this week at Dover for NASCAR odds fans. He has three top-10 finishes at Dover including a third place finish in June and a runner-up finish to Burton last September. Clint Bowyer is another driver to watch in NASCAR odds. He won last week versus NASCAR odds at New Hampshire and is coming on strong. He finished eighth in June at Dover.

Denny Hamlin finished fourth back in June and 9th last September and is another NASCAR betting favorite. Last year’s winner, Jeff Burton is struggling of late and will not be a NASCAR odds favorite. He has dropped to 11th in the standings. He was 12th at Dover in June for NASCAR betting fans.

Three logical NASCAR betting favorites are Gordon, Johnson and Stewart. Gordon finished second last week to Bowyer. Gordon has four wins and three poles at the "Monster Mile" but also has five DNF's. He was ninth in June and third last September against the NASCAR odds. Johnson was outside the top 10 in June at Dover and finished 13th last September to disappoint NASCAR odds fans. Stewart has been awful at Dover lately finishing 40th at Dover in June and 33rd last September. Kevin Harvick, Kurt Busch and Martin Truex Jr. have also struggled for the most part at Dover and may not be worth a NASCAR odds bet this week.
