Mountaineer Race Track wasn’t known as Mountaineer until 1990, as its name was Waterford Park until that time. The track installed slot machines in 1994 and is now a hotel resort as well.
With the ownership of Mountaineer Gaming Group, the reputation of the track changed from being one of an old, run-down track with cheap horses to a track that can offer respectable purses.
The track, located in Chester , West Virginia has a main dirt track with a one mile oval. The turf course is seven furlongs long and inside the dirt. The track is curved slightly in the front stretch.
