Football Odds - 2007 ACC Preview at SBG Global

The ACC is sometimes thought of as a football odds powerhouse conference but in reality it is not.

When Miami and Boston College moved from the Big East it was expected that the ACC would be a big conference for football odds fans but so far it has disappointed college football betting odds fans. As we look at the 2007 football odds season in the ACC we see that Boston College leads the way. In the Atlantic Division Boston College has returning QB Matt Ryan who should have a great year for college football odds fans, 9 returning starters on defense, and no major threat on the schedule. They finally get rid of Tom O’Brien who really has been in a holding pattern for many years and the division is theirs for the taking with first year coach Jeff Jagodzinski. Wake Forest finished first for football odds fans in the ACC last year but they are totally unpredictable. They lose 7 starters from a heavily defensive team.  The good news for football odds fans looking at the Demon Deacons is that star RB Micah Andrews returns from injury and most of the offense returns. They are always well coached and a college football betting threat each week.

Clemson was a bust in 2006 for football odds fans. They started 7-1 and then collapsed. They do have a nice QB prospect in Willy Korn, and an easy non-conference schedule. That doesn’t mean they will cover the football odds spread but they should have a winning record. Florida State is another team that disappointed football odds fans last year in the ACC. Bowden doesn’t really know how to coach anymore and the Seminoles do not have the talent they once had. Maryland surprised football odds fans in 2006 but could fall fast this season. They have a tough non-conference schedule and could struggle for college football betting fans. NC State gets Tom O’Brien from Boston College but is that good news for college football betting fans? Church Amato did a fine job and the pedestrian O’Brien may not be an upgrade.

The Coastal Division has Virginia Tech leading the way with what should be an improved offense and an always tough defense. After Virginia Tech it is a crap shoot between Virginia, Miami and Georgia Tech. All three should be good in 2007. Miami has new coach Randy Shannon and he should provide excitement for football odds players. North Carolina hired Butch Davis and that should provide football odds players with some winners in 2007. It may take a bit but the Tar Heels will be better. Duke is a disaster and one of the worst teams in the country. They may not win a conference game all year. Take a look at the individual football odds previews for each team in the ACC.
