BUFFALO BILLS 2006 REVIEW

The Bills have not had a decent football betting season in many years.  They share the dubious honor of being one of only five teams over the past five years not to make the playoffs.  That’s some bad company, but the Bills are working hard to break this association and after a surprisingly mediocre football betting season in which the team showed drastic improvement, there is reason to believe that this team could be working on its way to finally challenge for a playoff spot.  After finishing 7-9 last football betting season the Bills shocked the NFL betting world and nearly snuck in the back door in a parity riddled AFC that saw a 9-7 make the post-season.

There are many reasons for the Bills relative success on NFL betting, compared to its previous decade of futility, and it all started with the youth movement.  Ralph Wilson, presumably sick of seeing his beloved franchise suffer losing season after losing season brought in some football intellect to try and turn the ship around and in that way, get the attention of NFL betting fans.  So he turned to the youthful 80-something Marv Levy, former Super Bowl coach and architect of the team that won four straight AFC championships during the football betting season in the 1990’s.  While he won’t beat in any other GMs in a foot race, he knows the game and brought in a very talented draft class in 2006’s football betting season.  Despite begin called the worst draft in Buffalo football betting history by several critics, it turned out pretty well the Bills who had a rotten defense the football betting year before.

Rookies Donte Whitner, Ko Simpson and Kyle Williams contributed immediately.  Whitner, the first pick of theBills proved to worth every cent they threw at him as a very surprising top ten pick on NFL betting stats.  He started the entire football betting season at safety and racked up an amazing 105 tackles and had a pick; great numbers for NFL betting, but it means a lot of long gains by your opponent if your safety is your second leading tackler.  Simpson was also very good as the other rookie safety, finishing fifth on the team in tackles and recording a sack, a forced fumble and a couple picks for big return yardage in that football betting time period.

But, for the football betting fans, the star of the defense, the same as its been for years was LB London Fletcher-Baker, even with the added baggage of an extra last name he still managed to pile up an astounding 146 tackles, 101 of them solo.  Add to that his four interceptions and a touchdown, and the guy had an amazing football betting season.  The guy is a tackling machine and will be sorely missed on this young defense.  Nate Clements, the other star of this defense had his usual football betting season.  His numbers weren’t brilliant, but with three picks and over seventy tackles he did pretty well for a player that opponents rarely challenged.  And who can forget the monster year that Aaron Schobel had, notching 14 sacks and giving QBs nightmares during that football betting season.

The team ranked 10 in the league in total points in that football betting season.  That allowed which is obviously, the most important defensive stat there is.  In total yards through the football betting season the team was 18th, allowing 329 yards a game.  Even with Fletcher-Baker hogging the middle opponents still ran rough shod over this defense averaging 140 yards a game on the ground during the football betting season.  Only four teams in the entire NFL betting group were worse than the Bills in this department.  But against the pass this young defense was one of the best secondaries in the game hold teams to only 188 yards passing, good enough for 7th in the league in that football betting period.

Unfortunately the offense was nowhere near this good and much of this team’s problems are on that side of the ball.  J.P. Loseman was better than he had been and actually had a very decent NFL betting year for a guy trying to learn the offense.  He had his best football betting year as a pro throwing for 3000 yards, 19 TDS, 14 INTs and an 84.9 passer rating while completing 62 percent of his throws.  His favorite target was Lee Evans who had another big football betting year with 82 catches for 1292 yards and 8 TDs.  The rest of his receivers didn’t put up much of anything and the running game was marginal at best.  Willis McGahee didn’t even break 1,000 yards and back up Anthony Thomas “the A-train” was disappointing.  However, on the whole, the seven wins and Losman’s break out year as well as the impact of the defensive rookies, made for a better than expected 2006 football betting campaign.
