The Eagles won the NFC East in the 2006 football betting season but fell in the playoffs to New Orleans. The Philadelphia Eagles were about a break even proposition for nfl betting players as they went 8-7-1 against the spread and it was about the same thing for football betting players on totals as the Eagles went 8-6-2 toward the over.

In a town as football crazy and hard nosed as Philadelphia, it’s hard to impress the football betting fans and the critics. But that’s exactly what one very unlikely player did last football betting season. Jeff Garcia who had been banished to football purgatory after several successful football betting seasons in San Francisco had bounced around from one back up job to another before landing with the Eagles as all pro QB Donovan McNabb’s back up. For most it seemed like an awful fit, but a good way to while away the rest of a decent career. And when the Eagles got off to a hot start led by McNabb’s stellar performance most of the world had already forgotten about Jeff Garcia, until McNabb went down with an injury.
Out came Garcia, much to the dismay of the Eagle faithful. He was the last guy they wanted to replace their QB, but after wining the first football betting game with Garcia at the helm, the rest is history. Garcia knows the West Coast offense like the back of his hand and he very smoothly guide the Eagles to a 10-6 football betting record in McNabb’s absence. They won the division and got into the playoffs. Things that had been in doubt before McNabb went down as the Eagles had started to slide a bit after a sizzling start. The NFC East was up and down and the winner was up in the air until the final game of the football betting season when the Eagles got a win and sealed the deal.
The Eagles experiment for the football betting playoff season didn’t go so well, but that they even made it to the post season was real miracle in some people’s eyes. McNabb was having a very good football betting season before he went down with the injury. He threw for 2647 yards, competed 57% of his passes and threw 18 Tds and only 6 Picks for a 95.5 QB, probably the best football betting season of his career. Garcia stepped in nicely completing 61% of his passes throwing for 1300 yards, 10 TDs and only 2 INTs for a 95 QB rating as well.
Out of the back field Brian Westbrook was again the work horse. He had a great football betting season rushing for 1200 yards on just 240 carries which gave him a per carry average of over five yards. Correl Buckhalter helped out as well, but Westbrook did the heavy lifting. He also earned his meal money by catching 77 passes as well for 700 yards and 4 touchdowns. The rest of the receiving crew was benign. Reggie Brown caught 46 balls for 816 yards and the Dante Stallworth, brought in to the number one receiver to replace the departed TO, was injured, just like every other year in his career and caught 38 passes for 725 yards in limited action. But on that football betting season when Stallworth was healthy he was very effective averaging 20 yards per catch and starching the field for the rest of the offense.
The defense of the Eagles in football betting 2006 was not nearly as strong as the offense, but they were good enough to win a competitive NFC East and dug in when they had to. On the 2006 football betting season the team ranked right in the middle of the pack in terms of points allowed per game with 20.5, to rank 16th in the NFL. It was decent against the pass ranking 9th, but rotten against the run giving up 136.4 yards a game to rank 26th. In terms of yards given up per game the team ranked 15th, allowing 328 total yards a contest.
For the 2006 football betting period, the standout players on the defensive side of the ball were Jeremiah Trotter, Brain Dawkins, Lito Shepard and Trent Cole. Trotter had yet another very solid year leading the group in tackles with 113 and was the leader of the unit on the field. Dawkins continues to amaze and ranked second in tackles with 98. Lito Shepard was as good as any corner in the league with INTs and Cole came out of nowhere to register 8 sacks.
Considering the injuries that the Eagles had, and the competitiveness of the NFC East, there can’t be too many people that were unhappy with the 10-6 record that Philly posted and the division title. Especially considering that most analysts had very little hopes for the team before the football betting season started.
