Chicago Bears and football betting
2007 Outlook
Key Signings: None
Key Losses: RB Thomas Jones
Key Players: QB Rex Grossman, LB Brian Urlacher, KR Devin Hester
2007 Preview: Chicago plays in a weak division and that is a good thing considering the Bears have a shaky starting quarterback, unhappy players and no offense. The Bears let Thomas Jones move on in the off-season and have an unhappy linebacker in Lance Briggs, a suspended defensive lineman in Tank Johnson and some definite questions in 2007. The good news is that the Bears still have Cedric Benson to run the ball, a dominating defense and a great return man in Devin Hester.
The 2007 football betting season schedule includes home/away games with their NFC North Division rivals of Detroit, Green Bay and Minnesota. The Chicago Bears also have games against the AFC West along with the NFC East. The schedule is not easy for the Bears and their football betting fans, but they do get a lot of National TV time. They are on Monday Night Football once, NBC three times and the NFL Network once. The Bears open up the season at AFC West powerhouse San Diego on September 9th.

Offense: The offense in 2006 football betting season just tried to keep from turning the ball over and let special teams and defense win games. That usually worked well but it is obvious quarterback Rex Grossman has to play better in order to improve football betting odds. It will also be interesting to see if running back Cedric Benson can do it all by himself now that Thomas Jones is gone. Receivers Muhsin Muhammad and Bernard Berrian are solid if they have a quarterback to get them the ball.
Defense: The defense is superb in Chicago when you look for football betting picks. The Bears have great linebackers in Urlacher and Briggs, a solid secondary and a good defensive line especially when Johnson is playing. The defense oftentimes is counted on to make plays and usually they come through. The Bears had the 5th ranked defense in the NFL betting last season and may need to equal that mark in 2007 to win games and be football betting favorites.
Forecast: Everything went right for the Bears in 2006 football betting season as they made the Super Bowl. That rarely happens two years in a row. The Bears have a lot of question marks entering 2007 NFL betting season. They have a subpar quarterback, a questionable running game, unhappy defensive players and the added problem of having a target on their back after making the Super Bowl. It would be a shock for football betting experts to see Chicago win 13 games again. It would not be a shock though to see them slip to a .500 record. Remember that Super Bowl runner-ups the following year oftentimes struggle in football betting lines and all signs point to that happening to the 2007 Chicago Bears.
