2007 Football Betting Season Preview: The Lions added Calvin Johnson in the draft and most experts see him becoming a superstar receiver. That should make the Lions very dangerous on offense as Roy Williams and Mike Furrey are good receivers already.
Tatum Bell was picked up from Denver to upgrade a poor running game. Bell rushed for 1,025 yards with the Broncos last football betting season. It will be interesting to see how offensive coordinator Mike Martz incorporates Bell and Johnson into the offense.
The 2007 football betting season schedule includes home/away games with their NFC North Division rivals of Chicago, Green Bay and Minnesota. The Detroit Lions also have games against the AFC West along with the NFC East. The NFL betting season schedule is not easy for Detroit but considering the Lions are a bad football betting pick, no game on the schedule is ever easy. The Lions are only on National TV once with the traditional Thanksgiving game on FOX against Green Bay.

Offense: Theoffense has the potential to be very good in 2007 football betting season. The problem for the Lions is that Kitna is not a winning NFL quarterback. He is a serviceable backup. He does have a lot of weapons at his disposal though and the Lions should put up points for NFL betting with Martz’s offensive scheme. Johnson and Williams should put up excellent football betting numbers in 2007 and the running game should be better with Tatum Bell.
Defense: The defense was terrible in 2006 for football betting fans and nothing was really done in the off-season to improve it. Cornerback Dre’ Bly was traded away so the secondary will be weaker. The linebackers are decent but overall this unit is poor.
Forecast: How can you be optimistic when Matt Millen is still running the show in Detroit? He has done nothing but lose and that will continue in 2007 football betting season. The team has to get someone other than Kitna at quarterback. The offense has some weapons but even if they put up points the defense will more than make up for it by giving them back. Whether or not the Lions can improve upon their 3-13 record last year is in question.
