Buffalo Bills NFL Point Spreads

The defense wasn’t much better, ranking 31st in the league. It is amazing that Buffalo was in the playoff chase but the schedule was favorable and that help them versus the NFL Spread. The bright spot on the Bills was running back Marshawn Lynch. He had a very successful rookie season and impacted NFL Point Spreads. Lynch finished with the 2nd most yards ever by a Bills rookie as he finished with 1,115 yards even though he missed three games.

Losman was the answer at quarterback and ended the season with Trent Edwards in the picture. Edwards ended the season with a 70.4 QB rating and seven TD passes to eight interceptions. Losman had a 76.9 rating and four touchdowns to six interceptions. The Bills had no players worth anything at the wide receiver position and badly need to address that issue in the draft if they want to improve versus NFL Point Spreads. The special teams had kicker Rian Lindell who impacted NFL Point Spreads and not much else.

Head coach Dick Jauron surprised many people that bet the NFL Spread, doing a fine job. The problem for Jauron and for anyone that follows the Bills in NFL Point Spreads is that the Bills have missed the playoffs for 8 straight years. One of the reasons that the Bills did well against NFL Point Spreads is that they had a franchise low 21 turnovers for a season. They also set a new franchise record for the fewest penalties with 78 and that helped them versus the NFL Spread.

The main reason the Bills didn’t win more games straight up even though they did okay versus NFL Point Spreads was that the offense was pathetic. The 20 Offensive TD’s were the fewest in team history for a 16 game season.
