2009 May be Last Season for Bruschi
New England linebacker Teddy Bruschi could be playing his last season in the NFL in 2009. The 36-year old begins his 14th NFL season and it is very possible it will be his last one. "After you get past 10 (NFL seasons) I think that's the way you have to do it because you never know what's going to happen within a year. You just don't," Bruschi said. "So when the season's over, you sort of reassess things and that's how it's going to go again."
Bruschi has spent his entire career with the New England Patriots and has been a fixture on the team. The Patriots have been Super Bowl contenders in football betting odds in many of Bruschi’s years. They are the 4-1 favorite in football odds this season to win Super Bowl XLIV.
Bruschi is definitely on the downside of a great career. He has 75 tackles last season as sports betting stats show, which were the second fewest he has had in the last six years. He had no sacks for the first time in his career as online sports betting numbers tell us. His longtime friend and teammate Mike Vrabel was traded to Kansas City in the off-season so Bruschi is well aware his time with the Patriots is coming to an end, his playing time that is. He could easily end up as a coach after his playing career is over. He has showed coaching skills and already runs a football camp. "I've had this going on in my head for a while," Bruschi said. "I mapped out the field where the stations will be, how the guys will teach their fundamentals. It's a little Belichikian because I've been trying to keep it organized and you heard me talking to the kids about getting better and doing their job."
Bruschi looks like he would be a good coach in the NFL. "I know I can coach," Bruschi said. "I know the game. I've been in it so long, it's just going to be a matter of what I do when I'm done [playing]. So I don't know. It's a passion of mine. I love football. I know I want to be in it. Let's just see what I'll be doing."
The Patriots are a huge favorite in football odds to win the AFC East this season. They are also the favorite to win the AFC in football betting at 2-1. Those football betting odds go right along with their Super Bowl football betting odds of 4-1.
