AFC North Training Camp Questions
Here is a look at some of the questions that each team has to answer during training camp and in the preseason.
The Baltimore Ravens are hoping that wide receiver Derrick Mason comes out of retirement. If not, they have a huge hole to fill during the preseason.
The Ravens will also be looking at rookie right tackle Michael Oher to see if he immediately moves into the starting lineup. Baltimore will also need to find a kicker since they did not resign Matt Stover. The Ravens are 20-1 to win the Super Bowl in NFL odds at the sports book.
Cincinnati is not that respected in NFL betting circles but they look to be improved in 2009. Rookie Rey Maualuga is looking like a possible starter at linebacker already and other battles should be interesting to watch as well. The offensive line is an area of concern so that will be the focus in training camp. The Bengals expect Carson Palmer to have a huge season so he will need to play well in the preseason to alleviate any concerns. The Bengals are a huge longshot in NFL odds at the sportsbook to win Super Bowl XLIV.
One of the battles that NFL betting gamblers will watch is the one in Cleveland between quarterbacks Derek Anderson and Brady Quinn. The Browns have a new head coach in Eric Mangini so the entire atmosphere at Cleveland has changed. The Browns are definitely a team to keep an eye on in preseason NFL betting this season. Cleveland is not given much chance this year to be a factor in the NFC North.
The Super Bowl champion Steelers return most of their starters but a few questions will need to be answered. The Steelers really want Limas Sweed to earn the #3 wide receiver job and they want Rashard Mendenhall to get the backup job to Willie Parker. The offensive line is a concern with Pittsburgh as are the special teams so those are two areas to watch in training camp and in the preseason. The Steelers are one of the main favorites in NFL betting odds at the sports book to win the Super Bowl this season.
