Almost Everyone Back for Colts, Saints, 49ers and Packers

There is no team in the NFL that returns all 22 starters from last season but four teams, Indianapolis, New Orleans, San Francisco and Green Bay return 21 starters.

Three of those four teams have NFL betting odds of less than 20-1 to win Super Bowl XLIV. Only San Francisco is not considered a serious contender in NFL odds at the sports book.

The Packers last season fell to a 6-10 record after having a great 2007 season in which they went 13-3. Green Bay had to replace Brett Favre but quarterback Aaron Rodgers had a very nice season. It was Green Bay’s defense and inexperience that let them down. The Packers had the youngest team in the NFL last season with the average age of the players being only 25.5 years old. The Packers easily could have had a winning record in NFL betting at the sports book last season but they lost in overtime to Tennessee and lost four other games in which they led in the fourth quarter. With another year of experience it would seem logical that the Packers would be substantially improved in 2009. Rodgers and wide receiver Greg Jennings are budding superstars and Ryan Grant has the potential to be an excellent running back. The key for Green Bay is the defense and they took steps to remedy their problems. They hired Dom Capers to change the defense around and they drafted B.J. Raji. The Packers could be a team to watch in NFL betting in 2009.

Indianapolis only loses one starter from their 2008 team but things are not the same with the Colts as head coach Tony Dungy is gone and the offensive and defensive coordinators have different titles. The Saints lose only one starter as well so they could be improved in NFL odds if they decide to play some defense. The 49ers have the opposite problem of the Saints as they have no quarterback. The Colts, Saints and 49ers may be losing only one starter each but each has some concerns heading into the 2009 NFL betting season./p>

The team that lost the most starters from last season is Detroit and that is probably good news considering the Lions went 0-16. Detroit loses nine starters from last year’s team as sports betting statistics show. Tampa Bay and Jacksonville lose eight starters each and since both teams missed the playoffs that might not be bad news either.
