2006 Carolina Panthers and football betting at SBG Global Sports betting
2006 football betting review: Carolina was everyone’s pick to win the NFC in the 2006 football betting but they were a major bust. They lost their first two NFL betting games, then won four straight and then went up and down the rest of the year. Injuries ripped apart the offensive line and the defense was a major disappointment.

Heading into the 2006 NFL betting season the Carolina Panthers had plenty to be happy about. The teams, the city, even most NFL betting analysts were full of optimism. Many football betting analysts picked the team to win the division and to do some damage in the playoffs. Many even felt that this team had the potential to go all the way to the Super Bowl, and some publications even had this team pegged to win a Super Bowl in the 2006 football betting season. Coming off a very successful 2005 football betting season where the Panthers ended up just a few points away from getting to the Super Bowl and getting crushed by the eventual champions Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Panthers made it all the way to NFC championship game the previous football betting season riding on the back of reviver Steve Smith who had a break out year. Football betting experts expected the team to pick up where it left off, but unfortunately it just never happened. After all that noise and cheerleading, the Panthers finished a disappointing football betting 8-8 and missed the playoffs all together. It was a bit of a tough road with injuries seeming to hold the team back every time it seemed like they might get ahead, but in the end poor play held this team and their football betting fans back and there’s no one on the team that can be satisfied with the team’s break-even record.
Jake Delhomme the heart of his offense was above average but not great and for this football betting team, with its somewhat limited offense to make the playoffs, Delhomme has to be great and he has to get the ball into the hands of the team’s playmaker Steve Smith. Which he did, but there just wasn’t enough back up help from the rest of the offense. Delhomme finished with 2800 yards, a 61% completion percentage, 17 touchdowns and 11 INTs, for a QB rating of 82.6. These football betting numbers weren’t terrible but the running game certainly was.
The Panthers failed to settle on a backfield last football betting season and also failed to produce a 1,000 yard rusher. DeShawn Foster was chosen as the work horse in the NFL betting preseason hut he’s been hampered by injuries his entire career and in 2006 he only able to pack the ball 227 times. He was decent, with 4 a yards per carry average, but racked up only 897 yards. The Number two back was DeAngelo Williams a rookie out of Memphis and first pick of the Panthers in the draft and he paid immediate dividends. Filling in for an injured Foster, Williams averaged 4.1 yards per carry and slapped together a couple of highlight reel plays at the end of the football betting season.
Steve Smith, perhaps the best receiver in the game today according to football betting fans, once again dealt with health issues, but was excellent when he was on the field. The diminutive receiver caught only 83 passes, but missed some game with injuries and still managed to total 1166 yards on a 14 yard per catch average. His eight TDs also led the team. Keyshawn Johnson was brought over in the football betting off-season to compliment Smith and keep him from taking a beating over the middle. He also had a very decent year with 70 catches for 800 yards and the two proved a potent 1-2 passing punch.
On Defense, the heart and soul of this team, the Panthers ranked seventh overall in total defense and 4th against the pass. The group was ninth in terms of points allowed and against he run was ranked 11th in the league. Julius Peppers again had a dominant football betting season despite seeing constant double-teams; he still racked up 13 sacks. Chris Draft had a very good year with 103 total tackles and surprised some people with his play. Mike Minter the cagey veteran played with his usual high level of skill despite being in the twilight of his career.
In the end of the football betting season though, the team just suffered from a few bad breaks, and some inopportune injuries, but there is no one to blame but themselves for the lackluster season. The team’s 16 point a game average was simply too little to win consistently and ranked fifth worst in the whole NFL football betting season. Although this team seemed to have endless potential on paper, it never lived up to it in the 2006 football betting season.
