Carolina Panthers and football betting at SBG Global Sports betting
2007 Outlook
Key Signings: QB David Carr, WR Dwayne Jarrett (draft)
Key Loss: WR Keyshawn Johnson
Key Players QB Jake Delhomme, WR Steve Smith
2007 Preview: LT Travelle Wharton (ligament tear), and MLB Dan Morgan (concussion) missed the entire 2006 season after being injured in Week 1 versus Atlanta. QB Jake Delhomme missed three games with a thumb injury late in the season and struggled and the defense took a big step back.
The good news is the Panthers really didn’t lose anything in the off-season, should be healthy, and may be a definite threat in the NFC in 2007. The Panthers' offensive line will be greatly improved with LT Wharton, LG Mike Wahle, and C/G Justin Hartwig returning from injuries. Running backs DeShaun Foster and DeAngelo Williams should do well and if QB Jake Delhomme can bounce back then Pro Bowl WR Steve Smith will get the ball a lot and Carolina will score.
The 2007 football betting season schedule includes home/away games with their NFC South Division rivals of Atlanta, New Orleans and Tampa Bay. The Carolina Panthers also have games against the AFC South along with the NFC West. The football betting schedule is manageable for the Panthers’ football betting fans although the team will need to play well early. The last four weeks of the football betting season are difficult as they play Jacksonville, Seattle, Dallas and Tampa Bay. The Carolina Panthers only get one National TV prime time game as they host Dallas late in the season on the NFL Network.

Offense: Good news for NFL betting fans is that the Carolina Panthers immediately upgraded the offense by getting rid of offensive coordinator Dan Henning who has never done anything but lose in the NFL. Things will be much better for football betting and handicapping on offense this season with Henning gone. WR Steve Smith is the man who makes the offense click. Smith caught 83 passes for 1,166 yards and eight touchdowns in 2006 football betting season. The Panthers also drafted Dwayne Jarrett who is expected to step up immediately and start. DeShaun Foster and DeAngelo Williams combined for 1,398 yards, but only four touchdowns last year.
Defense: In 2006, the biggest problem for the team and football betting players seemed to be in the secondary where they picked off nine fewer passes than in 2005. The team looks very old in the secondary and improvement is needed for good NFL betting results. Linebackers Chris Draft and Na'il Diggs struggled at times last year. The good news for football betting fans is that middle linebacker Dan Morgan is expected to return. The defense still needs to make major improvements for 2007 football betting season.
Football Betting Forecast: Jake Delhomme must improve if the Carolina Panthers are to step up and make the playoffs. The defense also needs to start playing up to its potential. The pieces are all in place for Carolina to make a Super Bowl run but the players must step up. The running game, the receiving game, and the defense can all be better than they were in 2006 NFL betting season. Steve Smith shouldn’t have to do everything for this team and their football betting fans to win in 2007.
