Cincinnati Bengals 2009 NFL Odds

NFL odds are likely to be lower on the Cincinnati Bengals in 2009. The Bengals were one of the NFL’s biggest disappointments in 2008 as they finished 4-11-1 straight up and 7-9 against the NFL odds.

With some nice off-season additions and a healthy Carson Palmer, the Bengals are poised to make big improvements in 2009.

NFL odds have the Bengals as a big longshot in the AFC to win in NFL betting in 2009 but stranger things have happened. The Bengals added wide receiver Laveranues Coles, defensive tackle Tank Johnson and safety Roy Williams in the offseason while they lost receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh, tackles Stacy Andrews and Levi Jones, and safety Mike Doss. They picked up offensive lineman Andre Smith and linebacker Rey Maualuga in the draft.

The biggest change for Cincinnati in 2009 NFL odds will be a healthy Carson Palmer. He missed most of 2008 and didn’t play well in the few games he was in. The Bengals never had any consistency on offense and it hurt them in NFL odds. The Bengals were last in the league in points scored and in total yards as NFL odds statistics show.

The Bengals should be far better in 2009 in NFL odds with Palmer healthy and Chad Ochocinco focused on having a big year. The running game looks solid with the rejuvenated Cedric Benson leading the way. If Smith can upgrade the offensive line then the Bengals could be vastly improved on offense this season. They were a team that went under the NFL betting total a lot in 2008 as 10 of their 16 games went under the total with one tie. That should not be the case in 2009. With Palmer throwing to Ochocinco and Coles and Benson running the ball, the Bengals have a chance to be very good on offense this season.

In NFL betting there will always be a team that makes a big jump versus the online betting odds. The Cincinnati Bengals could be this year’s team. A lot of things have to go right for the Bengals but they do have a lot of talent. The offense will be much better this season than it was in 2008 and if some of the off-season additions work out, the Bengals could challenge for a playoff spot in 2009 and be a team to watch versus the online betting odds.
