Denver Broncos NFL Odds at SBG Global

NFL Odds on Denver were higher than expected in 2007. They finished 7-9 straight up and a pathetic 5-11 against the NFL Game Odds.

NFL Odds on the Broncos had the team as underdogs late in the year when it was obvious the team was underachieving. Over bettors were happy with Denver though as the Broncos were 11-4 on over/under NFL Odds in 2007. Quarterback Jay Cutler suffered a sophomore slump and the offensive line was very weak. The Broncos started the season off 2-0 but then collapsed going 1-5 against NFL game odds.

The defense was a disaster as they ranked 28th in points allowed according to NFL betting odds numbers and they were 30th against the run. The offense was okay but nothing special. They ranked 9th in the NFL in rushing according to NFL Odds stats but they were only 21st in points scored. Selvin Young was a nice surprise at running back and Brandon Marshall looked good at wide receiver according to NFL Game Odds experts.

One of the few positives from a bad defense was Elvis Dumervil who now has 20 sacks and 5 forced fumbles in his first two NFL seasons according to NFL Odds numbers. The rest of the defense, especially at safety looks very old.

Denver needs to seriously address their problems on defense if they are to challenge in NFL Game Odds in 2008. They need help all over the defense at line, linebacker and safety. The offensive line also needs work according to NFL Game Odds experts. They definitely need someone to protect quarterback Jay Cutler so an offensive tackle seems a priority. The problem with that theory is that the defense has even more holes according to NFL Odds experts. The Broncos also need to address the special teams, especially after losing long-time kicker Jason Elam in the off-season.

We mentioned earlier that the Broncos were an NFL Game odds disaster in 2007 as they went 5-11 against the NFL Odds in 2007. They were especially putrid on the road where they went 1-7 against the NFL odds. Those numbers must improve if Denver is to make any noise in the AFC West in 2008.
