2006 Denver Broncos and football betting at SBG Global Sports betting,
2006 football betting season review: It was an up and down football betting season for the 2006 NFL betting team Denver Broncos as well for football betting followers. They started the football betting season 5-1 but lost five of their next seven football betting games. The Denver Broncos were a disaster for football betting fans going 5-11 against the NFL betting spread. They were a break-even proposition for those football betting players that played totals.

The defense sprung leaks all over the place and head coach Mike Shanahan benched QB Jake Plummer in favor of rookie Jay Cutler. The Broncos cost themselves a chance at the football betting postseason when they lost to the 49ers in the last game of the football betting time period. Just hours after that NFL betting game, CB Darrent Williams was shot to death outside of a Denver nightclub. It was a very unhappy ending to a frustrating football betting season for the Broncos.

Denver went from a rocky mountain high to start football betting season only to end it with a terrible low. The Broncos got off to a blistering start in the 2006 football betting period and looked set to pick up where they left off in the 2005 football betting playoffs, making it all the way to the AFC Championship game. But after a very good first in which their defense dominated and their offense was efficient enough to keep to pace, the wheels started falling off in the second half of the football betting season. In the first half of the football betting period, the defense was getting turnovers and recoveries by the bushel and the offense clicking. It was never a potent attack but under the meticulous leadership of Jake Plummer it all seemed to work. But then, the turnovers didn’t come quite so easily and the running game started to sputter putting pressure on Plummer and his porn start moustache and they started making mistakes, specifically INTs.
And it wasn’t just an INT here and an INT there; it was a lot of them and in terribly inopportune times during the football betting season. Coach Shanahan finally had enough and pulled the trigger on the Plummer experiment. During the 2006 draft the Broncos had spent a very high draft pick on the QB out of Vanderbilt, Jay Cutler. Many thought the Broncos were dizzy on the altitude when they picked him with the 11th overall pick, just one slot after golden boy Matt Leinart. But the gamble paid off and Cutler was arguably the best rookie QB last football betting year. His reps were limited compared to rookie of the year Vince Young but his NFL betting numbers were better almost anyway you look at them.
The thing that separated Cutler was his ability to cut down on turnovers and keep pace with the high speed flow of the football betting game. All the great QBs are naturals at it, everything seems to slow down for them and Cutler seems to have that intangible quality as well. He finished the football betting season with 1001 yards on a 59% completion rate, nine TDs and only five picks. That was good enough to earn him an 88.5 QB NFL betting rating in only five games. His record as a starter was only 2-3 but it was much better than what the Broncos had been doing. Before Cutler took the helm the once formidable Broncos had dropped four in a row and looked ready to implode.
Plummer was awful in his 11 starts. He completed only half his passes and hi 1900 yards were among the worst in the NFL football betting league. But worst of all was the 11 TDs versus the 13 INTs that just killed the team. His 68 QB NFL betting-rating ranked him among the worst stating QBs in the NFL betting league. Javon Walker helped ease the pain a bit and make the transition that much easier for Cutler. Walker was also acquired in the off-season and was meant to challenge for the number one receiver spot. That he did. He hauled in 69 passes for 1084 yards, a very impressive 15.7 per catch and scored 8 TDs not bad for a football betting season’s work at all.
Rod Smith, the ageless veteran finally relinquished his role as the number one man and only had 52 catches for 512 yards to go along with his zillion career receiving yards. Rookie Brandon Marshall also made a very nice debut in his first NFL football betting season and caught 20 passes for 309 yards and 2 TDs. Tatum Bell piled up 1025 yards on a 4.4 yard per carry average and helped this offense stay in most NFL betting games. Mike Bell was also active in the mix with 4.3 yards per carry average for 677 yards and 8 bruising touchdowns during the football betting period of time.
The defense came in like a lion and out like a lamb during that football betting season. It ranked 8th in points allowed which is a minor miracle considering that it ranked 14th in total yards per game and allowed 213 passing yards a game. Besides all-world corner Champ Bailey there was really no one else on this team that stood out. Bailey’s 10 INTs lead the league and he added 86 tackles as well. For a team with such high hopes 2006 football betting season must have been a disappointment for the team. But when you play in an NFL betting division that forces you to go up against San Diego twice a year as well as very good KC team, it’s tough to get in the playoffs, even if you post a 9-7 record. It is a hard call for football betting fans.
