Michael Vick Reinstated, Could Impact 2009 NFL Betting
Those that bet on football should know that Vick recently completed his prison sentence for a dogfighting conviction and was reinstated to the NFL by commissioner Roger Goodell although it is conditional. "I have thought about every alternative, but I think this gives him the best chance for success," Goodell said. "We are not looking for failure here. We are looking to see a young man succeed."
NFL betting at the sports book may not involve Vick in 2009 even though he was reinstated to the league. Many NFL betting teams have already said they will not sign Vick under any circumstances. If a team is willing to take a chance then Vick can train during the NFL betting preseason and play in the last two NFL betting preseason games. Vick will not be able to play in regular season NFL betting games until Goodell fully reinstates him. The NFL betting timetable on that tells us that it might not be until Week #6 of the NFL betting season.
Those that bet on football will see that Vick has released a statement saying he is grateful for the chance to play again. "I would like to express my sincere gratitude and appreciation to commissioner Goodell for allowing me to be readmitted to the National Football League," Vick said, "I fully understand that playing football in the NFL is a privilege, not a right, and I am truly thankful for the opportunity I have been given. As you can imagine, the last two years have given me time to revaluate my life, mature as an individual and fully understand the terrible mistakes I have made in the past and what type of life I must lead moving forward.”
While the reinstatement of Vick is big news it is really not NFL betting news for gamblers who bet on football. Even if Vick is signed by an NFL team, which is questionable, he probably wouldn’t be able to play until Week 6 of the NFL betting season. Those that bet on football at the sportsbook know that he will not be a starting quarterback so his impact on NFL betting odds would be limited.
