New York Jets NFL Point Spreads at SBG Global

NFL Point Spreads on the Jets were higher as the Jets struggled on a regular basis. The team went 4-12 straight up and 6-9-1 against the NFL Spread.

The team was also 6-9-1 to the Under in terms of totals in NFL Point Spreads. Let’s consider more NFL Point Spreads data from the 2007 New York Jets. NFL Spreads show that New York struggled both home and away. The Jets were 2-5-1 against the NFL spread at home and 4-4 on the road. Head coach Eric Mangini really took a step backwards in 2007 after having a successful 2006 season with the Jets.

One major problem for the Jets is that they don’t know who their quarterback is. When healthy, Chad Pennington can play well, but he is rarely healthy. Kellen Clemens didn’t inspire many gamblers that looked at NFL Point Spreads in 2007 but that may be the choice the Jets go with at quarterback. The offensive line for New York didn’t protect either quarterback very well and the running game was also weak. NFL Point Spreads data show that the offense was weak but the defense wasn’t much better. The defense was 18th in total yards allowed last year according to NFL Point Spreads data. That is not going to get the job done, especially with an offense that can’t score consistently.

NFL Point Spreads data shows that the top player for the Jets in terms of touchdowns scored was receiver Laveranues Coles with only six. The rushing game was led by Thomas Jones who had 1119 yards according to NFL Point Spreads data. Pennington threw for 1766 yards which is a very low number. Jerricho Cotchery was the leading receiver with 1129 yards. The defense was led by Shaun Ellis who had five sacks and Kerry Rhodes who had five interceptions according to NFL Point Spreads data. When the leaders of your team have those types of statistics it is no wonder that the New York Jets struggled versus the NFL Point Spread in 2007.

The good news for the Jets in 2008 versus the NFL Spread is that they have a top draft pick and that the NFL is full of parity. It was only two years ago that the Jets surprised the NFL Point Spreads experts and went 10-6. Bouncing back from a 4-12 season in 2007 to a winning season in 2008 seems unlikely but in the NFL anything is possible.
