Stanley Cup Betting 2009 Contenders

Stanley Cup betting comes around but once a year. It is the time of the season that all the bruises, broken bones, concussion and defeats all seem worthwhile for the two teams that have the privilege of being featured in the Stanly Cup odds.

This year four teams remain in the hunt for the Stanley Cup betting but only two will make it and only one will be able to call itself the Stanley Cup champion.

Stanley Cup betting has been around for nearly a century and dozens of teams have hoisted Lord Stanley’s Cup. Yet it never seems to lose its luster and you can be sure the four remaining teams in the Stanley Cup odds race would give their left to make it to the Stanley Cup betting final.

Out west, the Blackhawks and the Redwings are facing off in a battle of the colors, as it were, for a chance to represent their conference in the Stanley Cup betting. In the East the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Carolina Hurricanes are fighting for the right to represent their conference in the Stanley Cup odds. Both series are just beginning and right now the sportsbook odds are wide open.

In terms of experience in Stanly Cup betting games, the edge goes to the Pens and the Redwings as both teams won their conference finals last year and were featured in the 2008 Stanley Cup betting. And the Wings have yet another leg up on the competition as they’ve been in the Stanley Cup odds more times than any other team in recent years.

Yet the Wings almost appear to be the shakiest of the four remaining teams in terms of wrapping up a Stanley Cup betting berth. They are arguably the best team left in the playoffs, yet so far in the race for the championship title they have played the worst, relative to their potential. However, this is an excellent defensive team and that goes a long way in covering up mistakes in the Stanley Cup betting chase.

The Hawks and the Canes are both peaking at the right time and Chicago has a very legitimate shot its first Stanley Cup betting appearance in many years. The Canes, however, have a very rough draw against the Pens, and it doesn’t seem probable that Carolina will be hosting its first Stanley Cup betting game this year.

The Pens have to be considered the Stanley Cup odds favorite right now in online betting. They have won the close games so far in the playoffs and gotten through a very tough test against the Capitals in the previous round of the Stanley Cup betting playoffs. The team simply has too much fire power on the ice and perhaps not even the mighty defense of Detroit will be enough to stop the Pens in this year’s Stanley Cup.
