How to Play Roulette

How to play roulette begins with learning the game.  Many people love roulette playing because it is simple to understand and exciting to watch.  Let’s take a look at how to play roulette.

How to play roulette starts with the basics. There are two different types of roulette wheels, the American wheel and the European wheel.  The American wheel has numbers from 0 to 36 and also has 00 as you learn how to play roulette.  The European wheel has just the numbers 0 to 36 as you learn how to play roulette.  The house advantage is higher on the American wheel since it has 0 and 00.  The advantage is 5.26 percent for roulette playing.  The European wheel has a 2.7 percent built-in house advantage.  Most roulette playing wheels have the zero and the double zero.  How to play roulette is simple, as you bet on numbers to come up for each spin.  The various types of bets as you learn how to play roulette are:  Straight bets, meaning betting a single number to come up on the next spin, at odds of 35-1.  Split bet, meaning betting on either of two numbers to come up as you learn how to play roulette, at odds of 17-1, Street bet, meaning betting on a set of three numbers, at odds of 11-1, Corner bet, meaning betting on a group of four numbers at odds of 8-1, Five bet, meaning betting the numbers 0, 00, 1, 2, and 3, at odds of 6-1 as you learn how to play roulette, Line bet, meaning betting six numbers in two rows such as 4, 5, 6, and 7, 8, 9, at odds of 5-1, Column bet, meaning betting twelve numbers in one of the three columns excluding 0 and 00, at odds of 2-1 and Dozen bet, meaning betting numbers 1-12, 13-24, or 25-36, at odds of 2-1.

There are three outside bets that pay even money where you choose one or the other as you are learning how to play roulette.  They are red/black, odd/even, or high/low.  Remember with these three even money bets that the zero and double zero are not part of outside bets.

Those are the basics for how to play roulette.  The odds are fairly consistent and the house edge of 5.26 percent is standard whenever you see a roulette wheel that has both 0 and 00 as you get involved in roulette playing.
