Handicapping 2009 Preakness Stakes Odds at SBG Global

Preakness Stakes betting has a lot of unique characteristics to it that are different than the Derby or the Belmont.  Let’s take a look at some of them in preparation for handicapping 2009 Preakness Stakes odds.

Normally in the Preakness the Kentucky Derby winner will be favored but that will not be the case with 2009 Preakness Stakes odds.  Mine That Bird won the Derby at 50-1 and he is not going to be favored in 2009 Preakness Stakes odds.  Horses almost never go from 50-1 underdogs to a favorite in the span of just one race and Mine That Bird is extremely unlikely to be favored in 2009 Preakness Stakes odds.

In 2008 it was Big Brown going off as a huge favorite in Preakness Stakes betting and he won easily.  2009 Preakness Stakes odds will not have a big favorite.  That should make for a more competitive and exciting race in terms of 2009 Preakness Stakes odds.  Keep in mind though that the favorite in the Preakness has won more than half the time so you might want to consider the favorite in 2009 Preakness Stakes odds.
