With Preakness Stakes betting the speed horses actually have a chance. In the Derby and the Belmont that is not normally the case unless you have a superstar horse.
Preakness Stakes betting shows that the race is a mile and three sixteenth. Preakness odds show that the race has been won 26 times in history wire to wire. That is about one in five races. That means if you have a speed horse in Preakness Stakes betting you must give him serious consideration.

Looking at pace you want to examine how the race will shape up. If a few horses are battling for the lead in the beginning it usually means none of the three will hold on for the win. On the other side of the coin in Preakness Stakes betting if you have a pace that is slow it tends to favor horses that are just off the lead and stalk the pace. Take a look at the pace setup for the Preakness and predict how the race will play out. That should improve your chances of picking the Preakness winner.
