Additional Sports Book Choices
In addition to pointspread sides, over/under totals and money lines, there are a lot of other options to consider at the sports book.
Sports book parlays are highly popular with both gamblers having huge bankrolls and those on a small budget as you can end up making big money with just a little bit of a stake. Parlay NFL betting is when an online betting gambler takes a group of individual plays, referred to as “teams,” and groups them into a single wager in which all of the wagers must be successful for the parlay to win and pay at higher odds. If just one of the plays on the parlay loses then the entire parlay loses at the sports book. For example, if you have a four team parlay and win three of the four games the bet is still a loser at the sportsbook because that one play lost.
Teaser NFL betting at the sports book is similar to a parlay except that each pick used by the gambler has an enhanced pointspread or a better total. For example, a team that is a pick'em on the regular line would be +6 or +7 on the teaser line at the sportsbook. A total of 40 on the regular line would be an under of 46 or an over of 34 on the teaser line if it was +6 on the sportsbook teaser. The traditional “Las Vegas Style” teasers have a 6-point difference but some “special teasers” go as high as 12-points at the sports book. The tradeoff for the enhanced lines for teasers is that they pay lesser sports book odds than with the parlays.
Another way to bet at the sportsbook is with futures and props. This is where you can take odds on a team to win the Super Bowl or conference championship. You can also wager on a team to go over or under a set number of wins for the regular season at the sports book.
Wagering on props at the sports book can feature such items as how many yards will a player gain in a game, how many touchdowns a player will score, etc. Props are especially popular with online betting gamblers on Sunday night and Monday night at the sports book and feature games and of course, the Super Bowl.
