Federer Still the Top Favorite in Australian Open Betting at SBG Global

Australian Open betting on the men’s side is all about Roger Federer. He has been the best player in the world for some time and still dominates Australian Open betting.

Australian Open betting odds had Federer the overwhelming favorite to win before the event began.  Although he has not looked impressive, he is still the dominant favorite in Australian Open betting.

Federer almost made Australian Open betting wide open, nearly losing to Serbian Janko Tipsarevic.  The match went five sets before Federer won 10-8.  Tennis betting gamblers looking at Australian Open betting odds on Federer should know that the champ feels no ill effects from the long match. "I felt good. Of course, it throws off your rhythm a little bit, playing a five-setter, especially during a tournament. Usually I play five-setters in finals, like in Miami, Rome, Wimbledon. So it's a bit different to back it up," he said.

Federer said he was looking forward to his quarter-final match-up against 12th seed James Blake. Federer has dominated Blake in the past losing only one set in their previous matches and Federer is the heavy Australian Open betting favorite. "I've had some great matches against him where I always play my very best. So we'll see how it goes this time around," he said.  The other men’s quarterfinals have Rafael Nadal favored in Australian Open betting odds against Jarkko Nieminen, Mikhail Youzhny favored in tennis betting odds against Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Novak Djokovic favored in Australian Open betting odds against David Ferrer.

The defending champion is Roger Federer and he is the heavy Australian Open betting favorite to repeat.  He should easily dispatch James Blake on the tennis betting odds board and his only possible tests would then come from either Djokovic or Nadal.  Federer is two titles short of Pete Sampras's men's record 14 majors. Djokovic could be the real threat in Australian Open betting as he hasn't dropped a set at Melbourne Park in advancing to his fourth straight quarterfinal at a major championship. He lost to Federer in last year's U.S. Open final as a tennis betting underdog. He is also getting support this year in Australian Open betting.
