Betting Triple Crown Odds at SBG Global Sports Betting

Triple Crown odds are among the most popular horse betting odds during the year.

Triple Crown odds are available on three separate races, the Kentucky Derby, the Preakness and the Belmont. Triple Crown odds in 2008 begin with the Kentucky Derby on May 3, 2008.

Triple Crown odds continue with the second leg which is the Preakness which will be held two weeks later on May 17th. It is run at Pimlico Race Track in Baltimore, Maryland. The Belmont as part of Triple Crown wagering will be held on June 7th at the Belmont Race Track in Elmont, New York. The Belmont Stakes was first run in 1867 at the Jerome Park Race Course in New York. It was first run at a mile and five eighths, but has also been run at a mile and one eighth and a mile and three eights before it became a mile and a half in 1926 as it is now.

Triple Crown odds tell us that the first Preakness Stakes was held in 1873 with at Pimlico Race Course in Maryland at a distance of a mile and a half, but has been run at six different distances before becoming the current distance of a mile and three sixteenths in 1925. The first Kentucky Derby in Triple Crown odds was in 1875 at the Louisville Jockey Club Course, later renamed Churchill Downs. It was first run at a mile and a half, but was shortened to a mile and a quarter in 1896 as it is run today.

Triple Crown odds have not always made it possible to have a Triple Crown winner. Five times in history it was not possible in Triple Crown wagering. In 1890 the Belmont Stakes and the Preakness where on the same day at the same track and that made having a Triple Crown odds winner impossible. In 1911 and 1912 the Belmont Stakes was not held so there was no Triple Crown odds winner. In 1917 and 1922 the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness where held on the same day which meant no Triple Crown odds winner.
Triple Crown odds history tell us that only two trainers have trained more than one Triple Crown winner, James Fitzsimmons who had Gallant Fox (1930) and Omaha (1935) and Ben A. Jones who trained Whirlaway (1941) and Citation (1948). Only one jockey has ridden more than one Triple Crown wagering winner and that was Eddie Arcaro with Whirlaway (1941) and Citation (1948). Triple Crown wagering history shows that no filly has ever won the Triple Crown.
